The process of learning and teaching social studies at SD Negeri Kejambon 4, Tegal City is considered less attractive. Many students are less enthusiastic in participating in learning. This condition is exacerbated by the lack of courage for students to express their opinions. Activity in class is only monopolized by certain students. Most of the students' scores have not reached the Minimum Completeness Criteria (KKM). 

To accelerate understanding, increase the enthusiasm and activeness of students in learning, learning methods and media are needed that are in accordance with the maturity level of students. One of the learning models that are expected to increase students' enthusiasm and active learning is the Talking Stick method. According to Suprijono 2010:109, learning with the Talking Stick type of cooperative learning method encourages students to dare to express opinions. The meaning of Talking Stick is a talking stick. This learning method is a learning method with the help of a stick. 

Whoever holds the stick must answer questions from the teacher after studying the subject matter. In this method, students are directed to be able to work, develop themselves and be responsible. With the application of this learning model, it is hoped that students will be more active, more enthusiastic in participating in learning activities and dare to express opinions. Thus the value of students can increase and the objectives of learning activities can be achieved. The learning steps for the Talking Stick model are, first, the teacher prepares a stick that is approximately 20 centimeters long. Second, the teacher conveys the main material to be studied and provides opportunities for students to read and study the material independently. 

Through this step, students are encouraged to understand the material and can think creatively and be active in learning. This is a provision for students to answer questions when it is their turn to stick. Third, after studying the material, the teacher invites students to close the book. Fourth, the teacher gives a stick to one of the students. Fifth, when the stick rolls from one student to another, it can be accompanied by songs or music to make the atmosphere more pleasant. Sixth, students who hold the stick when the music is turned off are required to answer questions posed by the teacher. Seventh, students reflect on the material studied with the guidance of the teacher. The last step, the teacher reviews the answers to the students' answers and together formulates conclusions. 

Suprijono (2014: 110) expressed his opinion about the advantages of Talking Stick learning, including: 

(a) testing the readiness of students in learning, 

(b) practicing reading and understanding skills and understanding in depth about the subject matter being studied, 

(c) training concentration students, 

(d) make students more active in learning, 

(e) invite students to continue to be ready in any situation, 

(f) can arouse students' courage in asking questions to other friends and teachers. 

Some of the weaknesses of the Talking Stick learning model proposed by Suprijono (2014: 110) are: "(a) making students do heart exercises, (b) for students who are emotionally untrained to be able to speak in front of the teacher, this method may not be suitable, (c) if the teacher cannot control the condition of the class, then the class atmosphere will be noisy”. Based on the results of observations of student activities, it can be seen that there is very good progress. The activeness of students gradually increases. With the application of the Talking Stick method on Globalization material, the enthusiasm and courage of students in expressing their opinions also increases so that the objectives of the learning activities can be achieved.
