It has brightened my room up soooo much, and makes it look so large now! I would love to say that I miss the beige, but I do not. :) As you can see in the photo above, I did leave it on the top of my vaulted ceiling and the ceiling itself. I've thought about painting them, but truthfully, it makes it more cozy! I decided to keep the square board and batten behind my bed and just go on with the floor to ceiling board and batten on the other walls. I figured that if it bugged me enough, I would change it. And so far...it hasn't bugged me at all :)
As I said, winter is all about textures for me! I added these sweater pillows I found for a killer deal from Target. These shipping delays at all the stores has me going crazy...until I went to Target two weeks ago and they were unboxing some Christmas decor that arrived late. They immediately marked them down to 70% off. I got these larger pillows for about $10 each! The smaller pillows a little less. But the most favorite thing is the chunky blanket at the bottom of the bed on top of the quilt. That was only $10. So...with these shipping delays sometimes come good deals ;) Michaels is another one of those stores who got their Christmas shipment late and has a ton of it marked down now too!
For the nightstands, I took away my normal greens and added a mixture of candles along with the clock and lamp. It was weird removing the greens, but I love this new look!
Here's a good look at the ceiling in contrast. The beige is Casual Khaki by Behr and bottom is Swiss Coffee by Behr. I just love the changes in here...so much so that I've made my bed every day since! ha! I know that's when I really enjoy a space, is when I keep it clean. When I need to update a space is when I can't remember the last time I clean it :)
I showed you the "before" picture from last year, but here's a true before...so before that I only had like 3 holes in the wall and no paint :) This was so many years ago! See how pretty that beige is against the molding?
....and, now for the very first picture of this bedroom. Yes. I blogged about this room 13 years ago! ha! I don't know what the blog was about. I think I was sharing the fact I had curtains? ...and little did I know I would be using it in the future as the pathetic before :)
And 13 years later...Lots of updates! New floors, bed, curtains, walls, rug, decor...my taste sure did change! Funny thing that is the same...that doesn't look the same...the ceiling color. Yep. It's amazing how lighting and the things around a wall can make the color look so different!
Here's another before of the corner I shared in my post earlier this month:

I shared earlier this month the beginning of the makeover of my master bedroom. I added a huge gallery wall with diy picture ledges and board and batten. Today, I'm going to share the rest of the bedroom, and what is the last of the winter decor that is up in my house. I love the cozy vibe that the winter textures bring although I'm itching for warmer weather!
Let me preface this post by saying...years and years and years have gone by of wanting to do this to my bedroom. I waited, mainly because I didn't want to be just another blogger with an all white room. I did love the beige on my walls (Casual Khaki by Behr), but I dreamed of having floor to ceiling board and batten in here. I also like the beige against my molding...it just look so pretty! I couldn't bring myself to to paint my whole entire room white and loose that beautiful contrast. So, instead....I just stared at my walls every night wishing them away and telling myself that it's fine, just like it the way it is. Like why change something that is already good? Here's the "before" picture from this same time last year:
Yes, the wall behind the bed had already been update with square board and batten, which helped a ton! And....was also another reason for not doing the rest of the room. I wanted floor to ceiling board and batten and this was square and not the size molding I wanted. Also, taking off board and batten literally ruins your walls if you sealed it correctly. So, that was a hurdle I had to get over. Then....one cold January night I decided, "the heck with it all." ha! I went to the store the next day, grabbed what I could of the molding they had left...went to three more stores to grab enough. Came home and put it up before I even had a chance to second guess myself. And I have not regretted that choice at all. Years and years went by with these thoughts plaguing my brain and me hating the majority of my bedroom!
Here' the after of this same corner:

I also added this peg rail to this section of the wall. It made it more cottage/farmhouse-y. For my winter decor, I hung these DIY paper snowflakes and a plaid blanket. I'm excited to play around with the decor on this peg rail for each season! As for the bench and winter decor, I went with lots of candles, vintage books and pillows. That little floor cushion under there is our cat, Aero's bed. It's like his little safe space with that blanket hanging down.

When decorating and trying to create a cozy winter bedroom, I make sure to add all the layers! I added this faux sheepskin rug on top of my bigger rug. And as you can see, I added lots of pillows and blankets too. To help with the cozy factor, I made sure to add the candles throughout. These ones on this vintage bench are awesome. They are battery powered and come with a remote. You can dim them and change them from steady to flickering. They give off a beautiful glow!
I showed you the "before" picture from last year, but here's a true before...so before that I only had like 3 holes in the wall and no paint :) This was so many years ago! See how pretty that beige is against the molding?

I love looking back on old pictures and seeing how far I've updated this house. Little projects here and there sure make a different over the years. If you don't do it already, I suggest to start taking pictures of your home! It's fun to look back, but it's also great to remember! I've done a ton of stuff that I loved and have totally forgotten about until I look at the old pictures. This is especially true for Christmas time!
